I was searching for content this week as I have fallen a tad behind in my writing. I thought I might just scrape some content from “Down The Rabbitt Hole” and then thought better of it. That might not be such a good idea …… scraping your own content! So off to Father Google for insperation. Ahh …… here’s something of interest …… “How You Too Can Become A Blogger In 15 Minutes Or Less” Whatever!!!
I get it of course. A how to about putting togeather a WordPress.com Blog. However, this got me thinking aout what it takes to become a Blogger. How should I communicate the idea? I guess I could do the list thingy; everyone loves lists. Perhaps a short video. Perhaps an overview of “Arianna Huffington” as an example. Perhaps you have figured out that Arianna Huffington is not really a Blogger (more an opportunist I think).
It can be difficult to define what it takes to become a Blogger. Finding instructions of any sort just won’t get it. I’m afraid that you are out of luck if you feel that you can seek an answer from anyone online, even Father Google.
I think of all the top Bloggers in the field these days and most I see are really business folks trying to make a go of it. Some are pretty big, few are “Bloggers”. I’d like to think I’m a Blogger …… however, I’m afraid I’m still searching for the “Somewhere Over The Rainbow”.
Of all the Blogs I have come into contact with, I can only think of one or two that come close to what I would consider a good definition of what a Blogger is.
Have you ever seen the “Micro Blogger” Seth Godin? Now, that’s a Blogger!
Defining a Blogger is nearly impossible. Its not something that you can learn or something that some can teach. Its something that you are born to do …… does that make sense? It’s a feel for what it is that is important to your readers. It is a true understanding of who your reader really is. It is being the writer and reader in one. In the end the true Blogger has but one goal. “Give me the gift of a listening heart.” – King Solomon
I’m still searching of course. I’m not really sure if I will ever find the magic over that Rainbow.
Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue,
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true.
