Out with the old and in with the new! Or so the saying goes…
I understand that the “Web Hypertext Application Technology Working Group” and “W3C” have the first (1) working draft for HTML-5.1 …… and they haven’t even developed the final working standards for HTML-5.0. The “stable HTML-5.0 Recommendation” isn’t due until 2014. Oh Boy!!!
In the meantime, the browsers ain’t losing no time of their own over the issue. HTML-5.0 …… and CSS-3, for the most part are here! And I’m sucking wind!
I knew it was going to be a challenge, with the issues of mobile and multiple platforms, however, I was really concerned about a total rebuilding on the code. Theory is the same, but everything, and I mean everything is different. I’ve got to start over from scratch.
All of the Websites that I have, or have built for others …… out the door! Now I’m confronted with having to build a responsive fluid design that is both retina ready, and bootstrap compatible for each and every one. Oh Joy!
I can remember when the “Parent / Child” theme was the cool thing. Now it’s “Frameworks”! So I use the term “Bootstrap” to make reference to the fact that putting together all of these sites is far easier and quicker if I use a framework. And Bootstraping it is a pretty flexible way to start.
With all of the different browsers and platforms out there, and more coming Online everyday, it is a pretty good strategic move to decide to build your new websites with a framework that works with most everything.
I’m actually thinking it might be good for the ole SEO strategy as well. You know how Father Google is about staying on the cutting-edge of things. Plus having a responsive website provides social proof to everyone out there that you get it!
