Free Tools

Free Tools

Hello and Welcome to the end of the world and Mayan time the end of the first year for Jeffrey-Morgan.com. Greetings for the holidays are also in order. Happy Holidays Everyone!

As this is the time of year for giving, I thought that I would give away a whole host of free tools that make life easier for the Web Designer and Internet Marketer. Only problem; whenever I set out looking for cool tools, the only thing that comes to mind is all the time wasted with all the cool tools. One such cool tool is “Expression Studio 4 Ultimate”. Cool, but a waste of time and $600.00 north of free. No one really needs anything from Microsoft anyhow …… at least not now, anyway!

Free tools are an essential part of any Web Designer or Internet Marketer. However, just like Desktop Computer Apps, there are just so many “Killer Apps”.

Most free tools are indeed cool, but they take a ton of time to learn how to use, and with most, you reach a point of diminishing return that just does not pay dividends. With this in mind I thought I would just go over the basics once more of what is truly essential for the Web Designer and Internet Marketer.

Everything you really need is free ……kinda. I can only think of four or five tools that you will need at some point in your development that you will have to pay for:

I’m not going to over think this product list. I understand that if you are marketing video equipment, then you will most likely need something more then “Camtasia”. However, for the most part, all of these tools will provide you with all you need to get a solid start.

  • · WordPress
  • · WordPress Theme
  • · Mail Chimp
  • · GIMP
  • · FREE WordPress Plug-ins
  • · Payment Portal

To tie this package up you need a few hosting tools that you will have to spring for. I have chosen this package for its ease of use.

  • · cPanel
  • · MySQL
  • · phpMyAdmin

I understand that if you are just starting out you may have some issues with exactly how this all comes together; sadly that is beyond the scope of this post. However, if you focus your efforts on learning how to work with just these tools, the pieces will fall together for you eventually.

The tough part of such a post, is that after posting, you always remember something that you should have added. So I’ll be updating this post for the next couple of months. However, it is surely a solid list to start with!

I’ve never really been a big fan of the cloud, however, if you have the change and you can live with your materials being on someone else server, than perhaps “Kajabi” is the answer for you.
However, expect a learning curve that is sure to eat into your resources for the first several months.
