Information Loss

Information Loss

The foremost challenge of this century for astrophysicist is the “Black-hole information paradox”. Reading about it makes me thirsty!

To summarize with painless expression; what goes into a black-hole is lost forever. The astrophysicist’s go back and forth as to whether this is indeed the fact.

I always take the Occam’s Razor approach when contemplating such theories.

Whenever you look at “Hubble” images you see the center of all galaxies burning white hot. And while some information may survive, not much of anything is going to be of use after it travels through these galaxial garbage disposals.

As I see it; this is natures way of cleaning up a galaxy as it ages, grows old and dies. Much like our ecosystem handles dead animals. Everything in the Universe dies and is recycled to begin the processes again.

Wherever you look, information is lost …… and lost forever. Like some sort of a cosmic food chain.

Now, I told you that to tell you this …… all the galaxy, and the Universe for that matter, runs on information. And no matter the method of storage for that information …… “All Information Is Lost”.

Thinking of our current methods of information storage; one can only sit back and marvel, while contemplating …… “There must be a better way”! Magnetic Storage? You’ve got to be kidding …… “what’s wrong with this picture”. And “Mechanical” … Magnetic Storage at that.

Of course we have new ways of storing information with Solid-State, and flash memory all with ever greater capacities. Storage is also available via the cloud. And if you play your cards right, you can squirrel away your files and folders, “Server-Side”.

However, which-ever way you turn, no matter the method employed, from hard-drive to SUPER MASSIVE BLACK HOLE, in the end …… “All Information Is Lost”.

So when you lose your hard drive and all your information is lost …… move on. It is indeed the way of the physical Universe.
