As I was doing some SEO and SEM work, I happened-up on a post that was quite interesting. It was good and so, I locked it away for future reading, as this thing was about 6000 words.
If you haven’t taken notice, Google likes to index information from Bloggers that can solve the worlds problems in one post. Either that or they are busy indexing Tweets!
The only problem is that no one really has the time to read a Blog post on “War And Peace”. However this is what Google is in search of.
One of the things that I’m sure you can relate to is that to knock-out 70,000 words for your daily Blog post indicates to anyone that you are serious about what it is that you do. I think that is the point. I don’t think that Google has any “Auto-Blog” spamming issues with the Blogs that provide those type of posts.
One of the reasons that you are reading this strangely named post is that I tend to write about my personal experiences with Internet Marketing. I don’t think anyone is going to type in my post title into any search engine and I don’t have the time to research quality pieces about actionable material for Google’s needs. Even if I made most of my income from Blogging, it would still be a stretch to put out magazine-type articles that I really doubt if anyone has the time to read, but that Google loves.
If you can’t knock out something in 300 words, it is my feeling that you will have little chance of building a personal following. Don’t misunderstand me here, you will still have plenty of comments and links to deal with, but to maintain a daily or even weekly following of real quality and depth, you need to make it quick.
The point here is to “CONNECT”, not to provide a reference guide for the bored.
Now whats worse about all this, is if you do provide that short-post-type of information, it is impossible to provide any real lasting positive impact with 300 words.
I have seen material that has run into the hundreds of thousands of words that has left me with more questions than it provided me with answers, even though nearly all the material was killer!
If you are trying to achieve success in anything, you will have to invest in training products, this is really the only way to learn anything of meaningful value.
That is one of the reasons that I stay away from such long training type posts, I don’t have the time to put together this type of material unless I can see some sort of ROI.
However, I can put together an entertaining piece of 300 words or so …… and Google won’t index me!
You see, Google is not interested in you or your business, they are just interested in capturing your attention for their own needs.
What a shame! Is it any wonder why you cannot find the material that you are actually looking for?
